Traveling to the great empire of Assyria
Today when you travel in the middle east, you pass the great empire of Assyria, your great journey starts in northern Iraq, crosses northwestern Iran, southeastern Turkey, until Egypt.
As you see in the map Assyria started as a small community in the middle east, but over the years we grew larger as a community, using our technology. When Assyria was a small community in the 1800 BCE, we were disconnected from the Mediterranean Sea, Persian Gulf, and the Red Sea. But, now that we are a bigger community, we have clean seas and amazing beaches.

Ashurism in Assyria
We Assyrians believe in a very ancient religion called Ashurism. Ashurism follows a god named Ashur. We have many other gods, but we believe that Ashur is the most powerful god. Ashur is the god of speed.
Ashur is represented by the king. We believe that he chooses the king that will rule our kingdom. The king lives in the castle. And has to make sure that Ashur, and the kingdom are all happy.
In the Assyrian temple, there are floors. The first floors are for praying to our gods. And at the very last floor, is the place where Ashur lives.

Social classes in Assyria
Here is Assyria. We have a social structure. In the structure there are 3 classes:
1. The king, his nobles, his generals, and the scribes
2. Merchants, artisans, poets, philosophers, and musicians
3. Farmers and slaves
Our slaves are prisoners from war, but sometimes, when a man is very poor, and can't do anything else to keep him alive, he has to give himself up. Slaves don't get payed any gold or money. But, they get free meals twice a day.

Communicating in Assyria
In Assyria. We speak Akkadian, and Aramaic. We started speaking Akkadian in 750 BCE. Akkadian, is written in the cuneiform system. Those who don't know what cuneiform is, it's a very ancient Mesopotamian language that was written on clay tablets, Akkadian is written on clay tablets. If you don't know what Mesopotamia is, it's the first civilization which people could live and sleep in, in peace, without worrying that someone would come and steal their stuff. Some Assyrians started speaking Aramaic in 752 BCE. Aramaic letters, are Hebrew letters, they don't look the same. But, they have the same name, and make the same sound as the Hebrew letters, and use the same accents. These 2 languages were and are still spoken in Assyria since. We Assyrians used to speak Neo- syriac. But, this language is so old that everyone forgotten how to speak in Neo- syriac, some children that didn't learn about our history yet, don't even know what Neo- syriac is.
Our leaders
In Assyria our kings are chosen by our gods. Which is why they are highly respected.
The kings are also the chief of the priests of the state of religion. The king is responsible for the building of the temple, and making sure that every citizen in Assyria is happy and hard working. Our king is also responsible for preforming rituals to our gods.
When a king would start leading Assyria, he would write his name on the temple so that Ashur would remember him, and all the good things that he has done for Assyria.
Sculptures of our kings would show one of our best leaders holding the basket of earth.
